As reported by Candace de Russy in National Review Online’s “Phi Beta Cons” blog, the Libel Terrorism Protection Act, also known as Rachel’s Law, was passed by the New York state legislature unanimously March 31. This gives American journalists in the state of New York against attempts to stifle their First Amendment speech and press rights via libel tourism. One can hope other states, or better, the US Congress, will follow suit with similar legislation.
