Most powerful laser yet

A new laser at the University of Michigan is believed to produce the most intense beam pulse yet. It can produce 300 TW pulses focused onto a point about 1.3 μm across. The 30 fs pulses can be produced at a rate of one every ten seconds, a remarkably short recharge time.
(note, however, each pulse has a total energy of only 9 J.)
