Iron Man

I went and saw “Iron Man” today. It was rather good, in my opinion.

It had good pacing, and the right blend of action and drama. Robert Downey Jr. made a very good Tony Stark; Gwyneth Paltrow was good, but not great, as Pepper Potts. I was most surprised by Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger; he’s not exactly the first actor that comes to mind when one thinks “supervillian.”
There were also a couple of clear nods to the fans of the comics (“maybe next time”), and the requisite Stan Lee cameo appearance. I also caught the acronym of the government agency the first time the agent gave it’s mouthful of a name. And of course, there was that bit after the credits. Can we say “sequel,” boys & girls?
