Antikythera

Dr Martin Rundkvist has up a post on his blog about the recent work deciphering the workings of the Antikythera Mechanism, a 1st century BC clockwork device which served as an astronomical simulator and calendar. Amongst the discoveries was a four-year cycle indicator that was likely used to set the timing for the original Olympic Games.
